Has 'Munnabhai 3' been shelved?
Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi were all set to visit America in the third part of the Munnabhai series - Munnabhai Chale Amerika. The trailer was launched amidst much fanfare with Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Eklavya. Since then, there have been stories of the film being shelved. As of now there is no Munnabhai 3 happening.
Big B to walk the red carpet
In May next year, Amitabh Bachchan will walk the red carpet for the premiere of his Hollywood debut, 'The Great Gatsby', directed by Baz Luhramann and co-starring Leonardo Di Caprio and Tobey Maguire among others. This is the first time in a career spanning over four decades that Amitabh will represent the country amidst a galaxy of stars who have an international standing.
'Raaz 3' launched in DVD form
Reliance Home Video and Games launched the home video of Vikram Bhatt's Raaz 3 in the presence of Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt, Vikram Bhatt, Emraan Hashmi and writer Shagufta Rafique. Mahesh Bhatt says, "Raaz 3 is an important film for us and I can smell roses everywhere, I was completely intoxicated with the response we got on the opening day, and today I am proud to launch Raaz 3, the baap of all horror films on DVD. Now
experience this path-breaking horror film in 3D DVD at home."
Mukesh Bhatt commented, "Raaz 3 is our biggest film in the 25th year of Vishesh Films' existence. Vikram is the one who convinced me to make the film in 3D when I was hesitant, and I thank him for that." Vikram Bhatt says, "Raaz 3 is a milestone in many ways and in times to come you will cherish the DVD and the place it holds on your shelf. I believe the 3D home video of Raaz 3 is made for posterity and you can watch the film in 3D even if you don't have a 3D enabled television."
Emraan Hashmi says, "Raaz 3 is a film where we wanted to push the envelope."
Lata to launch her music label
Having started at the age of 13, Lata Mangeshkar has been singing for over seven decades, mesmerising millions with her golden voice. She has sung for four generations of heroines; an unparalleled phenomenon in Hindi cinema.
And while she no longer sings as much and as she used to, at least not in Hindi films, there's no taking the music out of the country's favourite singer. The legend, who turned 83 years in October this year, is now gearing up to launch her own music label next month.
Lata's music label won't be associated with film songs. Says the source, "She has had enough film songs to her credit. The music label associated with non-film songs is entirely her brain-child." And it will be a business enterprise.
Desi flavour reigns supreme
Film-makers are increasingly giving a rustic look to their songs. Whether it's Malaika Arora, Kareena Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha or any of the actresses doing item songs, one thing seems to be constant — the rustic flavour.
Sameera Reddy's red hot choli and skirt in the latest item song for Chakravyuh, Katrina Kaif's yellow kasta sari in Chikni Chameli, Kareena's neon green lehenga in Halkat Jawani, Vidya Balan's traditional nauvari in Mala Jau De and Malaika Arora Khan's ghagra-choli in Munni establish the desi connect.
The film fraternity and trade analysis agree that desi is the preferred flavour for such special songs.
