A young man's struggle
There's a lot of hype around the Sudeep-starrer Bachchan and its tagline 'Angry Young Man is back'. Director Shashank has no hesitation in saying that the title is inspired by Big B.
"Amitabh Bachchan is called the angry young man and I don't think anybody can take that place. He is an inspiration for the title."
Shashank reiterates that it may be an out-and-out commercial film but the format of the screenplay has been tweaked to present it in a different style.
Shashank is sure Bachchan will hit the bull's eye at the box office.
The film traces and portrays the life of a young man, who gears up to fight against injustice. "The movie has everything to make it a commercially viable one — but it is unlike movies like Kempegowda and Sarathy, for the screenplay and characterisation are rather unusual," adds Shashank. Sudeep's characterisation has been worked on and he will appear in three different get-up in the film. "Sudeep will appear in a stylish avatar — a rugged look and he will also be seen as a youthful character in the movie. We have worked around his costumes, hair and make-up to make him look the best," observes Shashank.
Speaking at length about the film, Shashank adds, "The story is largely based on emotions. There are three heroines in the film and one hero. Most movies revolve around the hero and there's hardly any room for others. But here, all the characters have been given equal importance. There is no overlap of roles and the suspense in the film is which heroine will appear when."
The film will release early next year.
