While Bangaloreans are busy putting up lights, buying new clothes, jewellery and plenty of sweets for Deepavali, television artistes are gearing up to celebrate the festival in their own way. Whether it's spending time with family, sampling some home-cooked dishes or simply indulging in shopping, they have their own plans
Ishita Sharma, from 'Kuch To Log Kahenge'
"Deepavali has always been a family occasion. No matter what comes up, we as a family are always together on this day. As a ritual, we play cards throughout the night!"
Samir Kochchar, from 'Bade Acche Laggte Hain'
"This festival of lights always brings out the festive side in me. Lighting up candles, diyas and lights all over house is a lot of fun. During this season, visiting friend houses for pre-Deepavali parties to play a bit of cards is full of excitement. Doing a puja with the family and eating all the yummy sweets is how the day of Deepavali is spent," he describes, adding, "As a kid, I was a maniac when it came to firecrackers — but not so much anymore. Hopefully, I can go to home to Delhi to spend it with my family."
Vishal Singh, from 'Parvarrish'
"Deepavali is a festival to spend time with family and close friends. Everybody meets with their close ones and spends some quality time with them. I do small puja at home and then catch up with family, friends and their kids. We eat a good meal, burst a few crackers and
play cards."
Rishika Mihani, from 'Love Marriage Ya Arranged Marriage'
"My mom cooks special Sindhi mithai called lai, which I love a lot. I'm a big shopaholic and these festivals give me a chance to shop for various dresses. I love decorating my house with lights, rangolis and diyas. I'm planning on gifting a gold bracelet to my mom."
Rupali Ganguly, from 'Parvarrish'
"I am not the kind of person who looks forward to Deepavali as people burst crackers — which is a major cause of pollution. But I love the beauty of this festival — I decorate my house by lighting diyas and making rangoli. Every year, I meet with close friends and share sweets."
Aamna Sharif, from 'Hongey
Judaa Na Hum' "Decorations like lights and flowers create altogether a different ambience. I, too, decorate my house and draw a rangoli. I visit my friends' places and love to eat the homemade sweets cooked by them."
