Q I am a 20-year old boy and I shave my face every morning. I have been shaving for more than two years and now the area is covered in pimples.

A doctor advised me to apply petroleum jelly on the area after shaving. But it hasn't reduced the spread. I have also stopped using after-shave lotion as it stings my skin. Pease help.

A Pimples occurring after shaving could be due to the pores or hair follicles becoming infected. Dead skin cells or hardened oil that has collected in the pores can also cause irritation. Use a facial scrub two or three times a week.

Do not apply the scrub on pimples. Wash the shaving brush very well with hot, soapy water. Cleanse the face and apply an astringent lotion before shaving. After shaving, use an after-shave lotion, as it has an antiseptic effect and prevent pimples.
