The City is all set for the 14th edition of 'Jewels of India' that will be held from October 27 to October 29 at St Joseph's Indian High School, Vittal Mallya Road, next to Kanteerava Stadium.
The exhibition will host more than 100 jewellers across the country, who will display their latest jewellery designs and trends with the most exciting range jewellery brands and prices.
All the past editions of the event so far have had a tremendous response from the City's jewellery lovers, prompting the organisers to further improvise and enhance the quality and content of the show with each passing year.
The brand ambassador, veteran actress Sumalatha Ambareesh promises that the exhibition will be a great shopping experience for women of all ages.
"Sumalatha Ambareesh is the brand ambassador in the true sense as she has been visiting our show 'Jewels of India' every year since its inception in 1999," says Sandeep Bekal, convener, 'Jewels of India'.
He adds, "The show has retained its popularity with every passing year because it is held only once in a year before Deepavali, which is the peak time for jewellery buying. The jewellery showcased in the exhibition will reflect the different tastes and jewellery making from across the country."
Commenting on the show, Sumalatha Ambareesh says,"I am privileged to be the brand ambassador for 'Jewels of India'. I have been a regular visitor to the show over the years and have picked up some exclusive jewellery pieces from 'Jewels of India' and have built up a great collection with jewellery pieces.
Even my friends have admired the jewellery pieces that I have bought from the show. So whether you are looking for an exclusive 'Columbian emerald' or an antique jewellery piece or a handcrafted gold jewellery, 'Jewels of India' is the best place to buy as it offers not only a variety but also competitive prices. Ultimately, the buyer is the queen as she benefits with more choice and the right price."
The exhibition will display the best of classic kundan and meenakari jewellery from Jaipur, everlasting temple and antique jewellery from Tamil Nadu, exotic thewa from Rajasthan, designer wear and branded diamond jewellery from Mumbai, handcrafted gold jewellery and tribal designs in gold from Kolkata, original Burmese rubies, North Indian Gujarati style handcrafted gold jewellery, best of South Indian bridal collection jewellery, bangle collection, fusion jewellery, jewellery for men and many more.
The exhibition was first held in the City eleven years ago. South India till then did not have any such exhibitions whereas they were happening frequently in cities such as New Delhi and Calcutta.
With Bangalore, as with the rest of south India being known for its fetish for gold and jewellery of all kinds, Sandeep Bekal of Expoworld hit upon the idea of hoisting a similar exhibition aimed at Bangalore's jewellery lovers. Thus the first 'Jewels of India' came to be. It opened with a bang, being launched by Parvattamma Rajkumar. The masses loved it and the resounding feedback convinced the organisers to make it an annual event.
It was to portray the elegance, depth and substance in the show that the 'Jewels of India' organisers chose to have a brand ambassador, who would convey the essence of the exhibition. Some of the famed film personalities who have been a part of the show over the years are Vani Ganapathy, Deepika Padukone, Shobana, Bhagyashree, Jayaprada, and Priyanka Upendra.
