And the role goes to Priyanka

Priyanka Chopra might have gone through a bad spell following the rumours of her affair with Shah Rukh Khan, but the actress is back in the scene like never before.

She was a pleasant surprise in Barfi! — a movie in which she played a mentally-retarded girl — which has now been nominated as India's entry to the Oscars.

Beside this, she also has the remake of Zanjeer to look forward to and now, it has been confirmed that she will be seen alongside Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor in Yash Raj's upcoming film Gunday.

There have been some rumours that Katrina Kaif would get the film, which is being directed by Ali Abbas Zafar — of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan fame. But now, sources confirm that Priyanka has been chosen instead. A 'YRF' spokesperson confirmed the development, without giving further details.

This is the first time that Priyanka is teaming up with Ranveer and Arjun. The film is set in Kolkata, between the years of 1971 to 1988. Ranveer and Arjun play two boys who start out as wagon-breakers and coal thieves and go on to become powerful mafia figures.

Both Ranveer and Arjun started their careers in Bollywood with 'YRF' movies — Band Baaja Baarat (2010) and Ishaqzaade (2012), respectively. The film goes on floors this December.

Three heroes in one song

The teaser of Son of Sardaar's fourth song — the much-awaited Salman Khan number titled Po Po — is out. Having colourful vintage cars in the background, superstars Ajay Devgan and Sanjay Dutt will also be seen shaking a leg with Salman Khan to this zestful and desi-beat song. And adding the perfect element of glamour and tadka to the song will be the leading actress of the movie, Sonakshi Sinha.

The catchy dance number has been choreographed by ace dance master Ganesh Acharya and the foot-tapping music is given by Himesh Reshammiya.

Apparently, Ajay Devgan, Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt were seen having an absolutely amazing time on the sets while shooting for this song. The official song Po Po will be out on October 18.

'I know that love brings difficulty'

Rajeesh Kumar, the director of Pyaar Mein Aisa Hota Hai, feels that he is contributing to the society by giving newcomers a platform to show their skills — like journalist-cum-actor Virendra Mishra, Rozyin and Ashrrita Agarwaal, who was recently seen playing the lead role in Vidhata Tere Khel Hain Nirale.

Ashrrita Agarwaal is also working Rajeesh's next film 'Limelight', in the lead. "My film drives home the message that love creates havoc in peoples' lives. Every individual has some vision to explore a better life and put a light on the darkest, neglected part of it.

I want to share my vision with millions through cinema. I have also tasted the bitterness of love and become heartbroken, dejected and hurt in love. I know that love brings difficulty and indecisiveness in life, when it's supplemented with selfishness and lust.

But through this movie, I want to show the power of love and warn the youngsters — do not play with it," says Rajeesh, who is all set to come up with a music album by Sujata Majumdar, who, besides singing all the songs in the film is also playing the role of a police
officer in it.

A viral hit for musical duo

Although Premmayee did not click at the box office, the music composed by Abhishek Ray for the film has been appreciated. Abhishek is not only a music director but a good singer and has to his credit films like Haasil, Paan Singh Tomar, Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster, Shagrid, Tera Kya Hoga Johny, Char Din Ki Chandni, 'I Am Kalam' and Yeh Saali Zindagi, apart from the Tamil film Thoondil.

The song Palchin Palchin from Premmayee — which Abhishek sang along with Shreya Ghoshal — has been an instant hit and the singer is pleased by its success. In fact, he was pleasantly surprised when he heard that the song had received more than six lakh hits on the internet. His voice, coupled with Shreya Ghoshal's melodic strains, has evidently been a huge hit.

"A bad melody can never look beautiful, even if you have world-class arrangement and technology at your disposal. Technology can never be used to compensate for the lack of a good original composition. Though technical wizardry comes into play in music and cacophony is ruling today, it is only melody that will be all pervasive. I am also looking forward to bagging music-centric films from banners like those of Yash Chopra and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, in which music takes the centre stage," says Abhishek.

Strong views from Vidya

Vidya Balan, who is known for playing bold, female-centric roles, has some pretty serious
opinions about the kind of pressure that young people go through in society.
Recently, she was reading out a passage from a new novel, enacting and dramatising it in her impeccable English.

It became evident that she related to many of the topics in it."Once I started reading the book, I was hooked. I could not put it down. People almost look down upon you if you are a virgin after a certain age, which is upsetting. There's a lifetime to have sex and if you can wait and have it with someone you really like, you'd enjoy it so much more.

I was single for a long time and was asked about it. I would say I enjoy being single. One of my friends got married at 43 and lost her virginity then — that's how she chose it and while reading this book, I felt as if I were reading her story," she explains.

Ask her whether she would like to act in a film based on the novel, and she replies, "The book would definitely make a good film, and I would be willing to do a film based on it, depending on who made it, and how he or she interpreted and narrated the story."
