Bangalore's weather is like a roller-coaster ride. The temperature rises and dips without any warning. And yet, anyone who comes to the City for the first time simply raves about the weather.
Ask any celebrity who comes here about what they like about the place and they unanimously say that the weather is beautiful and stress as to how lucky people living here are.
In fact, when yoga guru Bharat Thakur decided to make the City his home for a year, he said that it was the weather and the food that prompted him to take the call. Interestingly, people who live here don't really share the same sentiments.
Many say that the unpredictability of the weather is not something that one can face day in and day out.
Also, not knowing when a sudden downpour might surprise you makes it very difficult for one to plan an outing.
Janardhan, who is into marketing, states that the weather has played spoilsport many times when he is on the field. "I don't completely hate the weather. But for someone who is on the move at all times, the sudden heat and the showers get in the way and delay things," he adds.
Apoorva, an engineering student, says that it's never easy to predict the weather in the City. "Unlike other cities, where one can actually differentiate between the seasons, this is one place where you need to be ready for anything, anytime. I ensure that I carry my umbrella, a jacket and my sunglasses every time I step out," she laughs.
Not all Bangaloreans feel the same, though. Many — like television actress Anushree — feel that the weather here is perfectly balanced and after living here, it's very difficult to adjust to the weather anywhere else.
"The weather plays such an important role. Yes, at times we crib when it suddenly rains or gets too dry; but I feel that at the end of the day, there is no place like here and staying anywhere else is very difficult," she states.
Those who travel or have stayed in other cities tend to appreciate the weather much more. Model-turned-actress Angella Johnsson stayed in Bangalore for a couple of years before she moved to Mumbai.
"Mumbai does tend to have extreme temperatures because it's on the coast. After moving out of Bangalore, I miss walking down the lanes with the chill breeze blowing. Even when it gets too hot, somehow the weather balances it out with a couple of showers. That's something one won't find in other big cities," she adds. Looks like people will never know the real value of what they have till it's gone.
