After giving a hard-hitting performance in Olave Mandhara, there was a lot of expectations from leading lady Akanksha. But the Dubai-bred damsel says that she still has a long way to go and several goals to achieve.
Akanksha tells Metrolife that she can't wait for her next release Edegarike. In the movie, she plays the role of a simple girl-next-door, who falls in love with a person linked with the underworld. The actress, who recently celebrated her birthday in Goa, says that shooting for the film was a real challenge.
"This is a power-packed film with a challenging script but apart from that, I had a task-master of a director in Sumana Kittur. She was fun to work with but at the same time, very strict. But working under a woman director was a learning experience and I can't wait for the audience to see this movie," she says.
She admits that she felt a lot of expectations on the sets of the film as well and says that the experience was very different from her first film Olave Mandhara. "My first film will always be a special one. I was pampered and had a lot of liberty. But now, people look at me in a different light, since I have more experience. They expect more out of me," she adds.
Until now, she has mostly done mature characters. One wonders whether one will ever see her in a glamourous role as well. "Glamour to me has a different meaning. For me, being glamourous is not about wearing short skirts. I think it lies in the subtlety of a woman and how well one can carry oneself. When it comes to movies, I want to act in those through which people will remember me, my acting and not what I wore," she states.
Soon, the actress plans to expand her career to the Telugu and Tamil film industries as well. "Ihad recently gone to an award function, which was my very first one. There, I saw and met so many people from various industries. I also met actresses who were younger than me but 30 films old. This really pushed me in to thinking that I have to do more films and take my career to a whole new level. Though I haven't officially signed anything in either of the industries, I am waiting for a script that Ican believe in and will take things from there," she sums up.
