'I can be a fashion disaster'
Anil Kapoor definitely can't be called a style icon. But things have now changed and he is getting prominence at fashion events — all because of his stylish daughter, Sonam, who has carved a niche for herself as a fashionista with glamour in her blood.
Anil says that because of his daughter's fashion sense, he's being called to several fashion events.
"They are calling me because of her (Sonam) — otherwise, no one used to call me for any fashion events. It's thanks to her that I am being asked to come," the 52-year-old says.
He admits that he has very little fashion sense, but is quick to add that he's very proud that the rest of his family keeps their style quotient sky high at all times.
"I can be a fashion disaster and I am very proud of that. But now, there is everyone to look after me. First, my wife used to look after me and now my daughters (Sonam and Rhea) look after me, which is great — and I am really proud of them," Anil says. While Sonam is an actress, Rhea is into production and fashion designing. Anil says he admires working women.
"I feel very happy when girls achieve and work. Ask any boy or husband — if his girlfriend or wife is working, then he respects her more because she goes out to work and handles the house as well. That is very, very beautiful and I genuinely look up to all these ladies," he confesses. Anil was last seen in Tezz and is currently shooting for 'Shootout at Wadala' and 'Race 2'.
Big steps for a debutant
Debutant film director Gauri Shinde, who has helmed the Sridevi-starrer 'English Vinglish', which also has a cameo by megastar Amitabh Bachchan, admits that had it not been for the actors' trust in her art, the movie wouldn't have been possible.
"They're the greatest and yet, so humble and so trusting of the director. If they hadn't trusted in me, I'd not have been able to make this film. Not once did they make me feel like a debutant director," says Shinde.'English Vinglish', which marks Sridevi's comeback to Bollywood after 15 years, releases on October 5.
Family time for Akshay
Bollywood star Akshay Kumar didn't have a star-studded birthday bash this year. Rather, he spent time with his family. "Thank you so much everyone for all your wonderful wishes, I'd love to thank each and everyone of you personally, but I've just returned home from a long schedule in Muscat and I'll be a little selfish and want to spend the last few hours of my birthday with my family," tweeted the actor, who turned 45 recently. Akshay was in Muscat for the shooting of 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbai 2'. His wife, actress Twinkle Khanna, is currently expecting their second child. They already have a ten-year-old son named Aarav. Meanwhile, Akshay is also looking forward to the release of his film 'Oh My God!', which hits the screens on September 28.
'I consider myself lucky'
Ayesha Takia claims that although she manages to stay away from the limelight, she gets some of the best roles — and hence, she says she feels lucky although she hasn't been seen on the screen for a while. "My journey has been really good. I consider myself very lucky.
I have the opportunities to portray myself as myself and also be taken seriously as an actress. I have been getting opportunity after opportunity to do things which I like," says Ayesha. She prefers to be busy with home and hospitality business, rather than face the camera.
However, she has taken up the role of an anchor for music reality show Sur Kshetra, which pits singers from India and Pakistan against each other. Ayesha says being able to live life on one's own terms is "rare".
"I think living life on my terms and being able to do it successfully is rare — and the fact that I have got to do that and make some lovely friends along the way has been great," she adds.
A passion for stunts
Ajay Devgan has always had a bit of a mania for stunts. In his debut film Phool Aur Kaante, he performed a deadly stunt: standing on two moving bikes and performing a perfect split as well enroute.
He was next seen performing very similar stunts in Rohit Shetty's successful Golmaal series. Now, the super star has gone even further with his forthcoming film, Son of Sardaar. He will be seen riding not one, but two horses at one time.
A source close to the team says, "Yes, Ajay will be seen riding two horses in the movie. Though the horses were trained, Ajay had to practice a lot as he had to manage the timing of both the horses together.
We were all very scared but at the same time, there was an excitement seeing him perform this stunt. He has always been the pioneer of action and this stunt will showcase him like never before."
