endukante premanta
Telugu (U/A)
Cast: Ram, Tamanna, Sayaji Shinde, Kona Venkat, Suman
Director: A Karunakaran
Two souls — A New History of Love, thus goes the many promo line of Tollywood's Endukante Premanta (Why Love?) Where a straight-forward tale of love and longing would have worked wonders, director A Karunakaran, known for his neat and nifty plots, takes a rather circuitous course to conjure up a cacophony called Endukante Premanta.
Spicing it up with lost souls, rebirths and what have you, Karunakaran makes Endukante a tedious saga which fails to impress.
Set in the picturesque Parisian country, its beauteous vineyards and the Swiss alpines, Endukante revolves around two lost-in-love souls — Srinidhi and Krishna, who die without expressing their feelings for each other.
However, they are reborn as Sravanthi — the daughter of the Indian High Commissioner, who pines for freedom from the cloistered existence she is confined to by her possessive papa — and Ram, her happy-go-lucky beau who comes to save the damsel in distress.
As lovebirds, Ram and the gorgeous Tamanna do justice to their parts, while the rest of the cast too pitches in to make a game of Endukante.
Except for Andrew's awe-inspiring cinematography that captures Paris and its scenic surroundings in their resplendant hues, nothing impresses in Endukante. It drags while telling a mundane, mushy tale peppered with action and comedy. If only Endukante was as energetic as it bills and markets its leading star to be!
