Double treat
Indian Ensemble is presenting, 'Treadmill', a play in Hindi on September 1, 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm at Ranga Shankara. 'Treadmill' is a journey of exploring personal memories of people in towns of India. It is a comedy in the simplest sense of the word. The play is written by Sandeep Shikhar and directed by Abhishek Majumdar.
The cast include Sandeep Shikhar, Virginia Rodrigues, Ashwini Kumar Chakre.
Another play titled, 'Afterlife of Birds', will be staged on September 2, 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm, also at Ranga Shankara.The play revolves around the notions of nationalism and loyalty. It is an attempt to examine the uprising of the common people, of the varied positions between 'for' and 'against' and how history deals with failed movements.

Unique series
The Indian Institute of World Culture is presenting a series of endowment programmes till the end of September. The series will start with a lecture-cum-demonstration on the topic 'Dance: A Universal and Unique Human Expression' by Mythili Anoop, special guest faculty, St Joseph's Post Graduate and Research Centre, on September 1, 6 pm. Still life
The photography exhibition '37 Indian Still Lifes' will be on till September 14 at Cinnamon, 11 Walton Road, Off Lavelle Road. The timing is 10 am to 6 pm. Photographs taken by Adil Hasan, Amit Mehra, Amit Pasricha, Anna Fox, Annu Matthew, Anuj Ambalal, Arun Nangla, Bijoy Chowdhury, Blodsow V S, Christopher Taylor, Deepak John Matthew, Edgar Angelone and Jasmeen Patheja, to mention a few, will be on display.
'A Retrospective'
The exhibition 'Ramkinkar Baij - A Retrospective' will be held at NGMA, Palace Road till September 23. The retrospective will have over 350 art exhibits from various important collections including paintings, drawings, graphics and sculptures — covering about six decades of his artistic journey. The exposition is also enhanced by diverse media interventions such as photographic blow-ups, digital prints, texts and video clips in an attempt to contextualise the man and the artist in the most comprehensive manner.
Music for peace
India in Concert, in association with a recording studio and a record label, is presenting, 'Music for Peace', which will feature performances by Zubeen Garg, music by the 'Aurko' band and performances by singers Siddaraju and Sangeetha Srikishen on September 1 and 2. Classic weaves
Vermilion House is showcasing an exclusive exhibition of traditional, classic Kancheepuram saris by Lakshmi Creations, a weaver who is reviving old patterns in pure zari and traditional colours till September 1 from 10.30 am to 7 pm. Colourful display
Renaissance Gallerie is presenting a group show till September 1 from 11 am to 7 pm.

Water themes
Bangalore Film Society, in collaboration with a consortium of institutions, will be organising the seventh edition of the largest international film festival on water titled, 'Voices from the Waters 2012' till September 2.
The festival will be held in six venues, including Christ University, Alliance Francaise and MaxMueller Bhavan. Apart from the screening of internationally acclaimed films on various water themes, the other attractions of the festival are painting and photo exhibitions.
There will be three-days of special screenings of the films for the high school students at Balbhavan.
Glorious strains
Glorious Choir is presenting the '21st Glorious Festival of Harmony' on September 1 and 2, 6 pm to 9 pm at Sophia High School Hall, Raj Bhavan Road.
