Glowing in the limelight
Nathalia Kaur's mummified act in the promo of Jism 2 has suddenly brought the actress squarely into the limelight.
Now, she might take this success forward by actually starring in the third installment of the erotic franchise. Actress and film-maker Pooja Bhatt, who is elated over the success of the recently-released Jism 2, has plans to take the franchise ahead with the third and fourth installment. She is considering having Nathalia Kaur in Jism 3.
Ram Gopal Varma launched the Brazilian model-turned-actress in Bollywood with item number Dan Dan in his film 'Department'.
"For Jism 3, we are considering Nathalia, as my father (Mahesh Bhatt) suggested me to do so. He has a knack for choosing the right kind of new talent. We are thinking of her — but nothing is finalised yet," Pooja reveals.
"The third part will have four main players: it could be two heroes, two heroines or three heroes and one heroine. We haven't thought of the exact number of actors and actresses yet. We might repeat one of the male actors from Jism 2," she adds.
The third part will go on floors from April next year and is likely to release during the winter of 2013. But the makers are not just stopping with Jism 3; they intend to take it forward and have a fourth part as well in the series.
"Then, we would go ahead with Jism 4 in 2014. It is just a coincidence that the year, ending with 3 (2013) will have Jism 3 and 4 (2014) will have Jism 4. I don't know how
far we will take the Jism franchise. I have not planned it yet," Pooja states.
Jism 2 is a sequel to the 2003 release of the same name, which starred
Bipasha Basu and John Abraham in the lead.
"I was anxious. The film had no big star cast, we did not have Salman Khan in the film — but it did quite well at the box office. I was taking a bigger risk by having Sunny in my film, putting her in front of a conservative crowd here.
People thought with Sunny in the film, they will get to see more of sexual and sensual content — but that was a myth," Pooja points out. The erotic thriller, featuring Randeep Hooda and Arunoday Singh, was made on a budget of Rs six to seven crore and has collected Rs 21 crore on its opening weekend.
"The film has earned Rs 21 crore, I think we have got a great
opening. Generally, film-makers do not release their movies during Ramzan as not many people go to watch it. But this film has done well, especially in places like UP, Bhopal, Punjab and others. It worked for us," she sums up.
'My mom-in-law isn't speaking to me'
Director-turned-actress Farah Khan has revealed that her mother-in-law is a bit upset ever since she saw Boman Irani in a towel during the shoot of Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi.
"Shirish (Kunder), as usual, has not reacted at all. He has this deadpan reaction. But my mother-in-law was very excited that I was acting in a film. So, she came to watch the shoot one day — but unfortunately, that day Boman was shooting his semi-nude scene," the 47-year-old says.
"She thought that my bahu (Farah) is working in
the film, must be a homely picture. But Boman was sitting there in a towel. She has not spoken to me since then and I have you (Boman) to thank for that," she adds.
Meanwhile, when asked if she ever took any acting tips from brother Sajid Khan, Farah replies, "He had done one film, I don't know if you remember, Jhooth Bole Kauwa Kaate. After that film, no. But yes, he has a sense of humour."
Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi is slated to release on August 24.
Ileana's language problems
Ileana D'Cruz is a big star down South, with around 20 films to her credit. However, Ileana has never used her voice in any of her films till date since she wasn't fluent in the local languages. With her Bollywood debut Barfi!, she finally gets to dub all her lines in the film. It's the first time that Ileana's voice will be heard in a film. When Ileana started shooting for Barfi!, Anurag Basu had decided that she would get her voice dubbed by a voice-over artiste, since he wanted flawless Hindi from her character.
Ileana, on her part, took it up as a big challenge and even hired a language coach. By the time the dubbing was suppose to start, Ileana surprised everyone by speaking in fluent Hindi. That's when Anurag changed his mind and wanted to dub in her voice. Anurag Basu confirms, "Initially, after talking to Ileana, I thought, Chalo, iska voice dub kara lenge (we will get her voice dubbed). She worked very hard on the nuances of the language. Later, I had also asked everyone on the sets to talk to her in Hindi. She is dubbing in her own voice finally and I am very happy with what she has dubbed till now."
"In Barfi!, she is using her own voice for first time. She is a bit nervous but the results are very good. We are close to completing the dubbing in few days," adds Anurag Basu.
Interestingly, Ranbir doesn't have any dialogues in the film since he plays a deaf-mute character, while Priyanka will have very few lines. Barfi! will be releasing on September 14.
Asin's new neighbour
Southern actress Asin is on a high these days. No points for guessing why: she's had a line of back-to-back super hit films, like Housefull 2 and Bol Bachchan, this year. And Asin now has a new neighbour — all the way from South. A little birdie tells us that ace choreographer-turned-director Prabhudeva, who has been looking for a house somewhere in the suburbs for quite some time, has finally bought a flat in the same building as Asin's. A source reveals, "Prabhu sir recently moved into his new house. He's very excited about it. He absolutely loves the new society, especially the view." These famous towers of Lokhandwala are also home to Bolywood beauties Sridevi and Tabu.
